The “Denis Browne bar”, which is also known as Denis Browne splint or foot abduction orthosis, is a medical device used in the treatment of club foot and other foot problems.

Clubfoot defines a range of foot deviations usually present at birth (congenital), in which the baby foot is twisted out of original shape or position. In this condition the tendons responsible for connecting muscles to the bone are
shorter than normal. It is a common birth deficiency and is usually an isolated problem for an otherwise healthy new-born.
Clubfoot can be mild or severe. About half of children with clubfoot have it in both feet. If your child has clubfoot, it will make it harder for the babies to walk normally, so doctors generally recommend treating it soon after birth.
