Stump Socks For PTB Limb Wearers (Wool)

A user in need of a stump sock is most likely to have a form of prosthesis called trans-femoral prosthesis, which is an artificial limb that replaces a leg missing above the knee. A “stump” prosthetic limb is placed into the leg socket by suction and the below the knee prosthesis can vary greatly from patient to patient to replace the missing ankle and foot functionality.

Daily activities, let alone walking, can make rehabilitation and life in general quite difficult for an amputee. An amputee with a trans-femoral prosthesis requires 80% more energy to walk than for the two legged person. This stump sock is available in 3-ply or 5-ply weights for the user's comfort and preference. First select the correct size based on width measurement according to the following instructions. Take the top circumference and divide it in half and subtract an inch, take the bottom circumference and divide it in half as well, but don't subtract the inch. Add these measurements together to get the final measurement you'll use to select the correct size. Then you can select your desired sock length, but we recommend you add an extra 1” to 2” beyond the limb length so the sock can double over the prosthesis socket and ensure it stays in it's place. Sock lengths are available in even numbers.

Select correct size, then order by sock length.

Sock Size:
For width measurements, divide top and bottom circumferences in half. 
An extra inch should be subtracted from the final top width to ensure a correct fit.

Sock Length:
Order by even sock lengths. An extra 1" to 2" beyond the desired limb length is advisable. This permits the sock to double over the prosthesis socket to help secure the sock in place.
